Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Galaxy Discovery Inc. ("Galaxy Discovery," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit galaxyediscovery.com (the "Site"), contact us, or use our client portal.
This policy covers the Site only. Case data, evidence, devices, documents and other materials you or your firm provide to us for an engagement are handled under the confidentiality terms of that engagement, including any engagement letter, protective order or data processing agreement. Those terms take priority over this policy for client materials.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and order requests: your name, firm or business, email address, phone number, the service you are asking about, and anything you write in your message.
- Cost estimator: the values you enter (such as data volume, number of custodians and document type). These stay in your browser unless you choose to send them to us with a quote request.
- Client portal: your username, company code, project ID and password when you sign in, and records of files you upload or download.
- Email and phone: anything you send us directly.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages requested and the date and time of each visit. We use this for security and to keep the Site running.
- Browser storage: if you tick "Remember username" on the portal sign-in page, your username is saved in your own browser so it is filled in next time. You can clear it at any time by unticking the box or clearing your browser data.
We do not use advertising cookies, and the Site does not include analytics, advertising or social media tracking scripts.
How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and requests and to prepare quotes.
- To provide, manage and bill for services you or your firm engage us for.
- To give authorized users secure access to the client portal and to keep an audit trail of file activity for chain of custody.
- To protect the Site, our clients and our systems, and to detect and prevent fraud or misuse.
- To comply with legal obligations, court orders and professional requirements.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Third-party services and links
Some features of the Site rely on outside services that receive basic technical information, such as your IP address, when they load:
- Google Fonts, which supplies the Site's typefaces.
- YouTube, only if you click to play our overview video. It loads in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
- Google Maps, only if you click a link to our address.
The Site also links to other websites, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and news articles. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
How we protect information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections (TLS) for the Site and portal, access controls, and a restricted-access facility. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Please do not send confidential case materials or passwords through the Site's contact form or by ordinary email. Ask your project manager for a secure transfer method. We will never ask for your password by email or phone.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide services, maintain business and billing records, and meet legal, contractual and professional obligations. Client case materials are returned, archived or destroyed as agreed for each engagement.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, subject to legal and contractual limits (for example, records we must keep for a matter or for billing). To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will verify your identity before acting on a request and will not discriminate against you for making one.
California residents
California law gives California residents rights over their personal information, which may include the rights to know, correct and delete information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. You may contact us with any request or question about these rights, and you may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Because the Site does not track visitors across other websites, there is no tracking for these signals to turn off.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for law firms, businesses and other professional users. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
